Chidambaram is a city and municipality in Cuddalore district within the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It’s the headquarters of the Chidambaram taluk. The city is believed to be of great antiquity and has been dominated, at completely different instances, by the Pallavas till ninth century, Medieval Cholas, Later Cholas, Later Pandyas, Vijayanagar Empire, Thanjavur Nayakas, Marathas and the British. The city is thought for the Thillai Nataraja Temple and Thillai Kali Temple, and the annual chariot competition held within the months of December–January (Within the Tamil month of Marghazhi often called “Margazhi Urchavam”) and June to July (Within the Tamil month of Aani often called “Aani Thirumanjanam”)
