San Francisco (/sæn frənˈsɪskoʊ/), formally the Metropolis and County of San Francisco, is the cultural, industrial, and monetary middle of Northern California and the one consolidated city-county in California.[24] San Francisco encompasses a land space of about 46.9 sq. miles (121 km2)[25] on the northern finish of the San Francisco Peninsula, which makes it the smallest county within the state.
