The cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum have been each destroyed within the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD. The cities have been buried underneath ash, hidden for hundreds of years till archeologists started to excavate them within the 18th century.
While you go to Pompeii or Herculaneum you get an thought of what life was like for the traditional Romans. You may see their properties, retailers, bath-houses, even a brothel!
We visited the ruins at Pompeii and Herculaneum, after which took a bus tour as much as Mt Vesuvius, the place we hiked as much as the rim of the crater to look over. We could not imagine what we noticed!
