The governing board of the oneworld Alliance has appointed Qatar Airways Group chief govt, Akbar Al Baker, as Chairman.
He succeeds Qantas Group chief govt, Alan Joyce, who had served within the position since September 2018.
Al Baker will oversee the alliance’s governance, chair oneworld’s governing board conferences and work intently with oneworld chief govt, Rob Gurney, and the alliance’s administration crew.
Having led Qatar Airways since its launch in 1997, Al Baker is the longest-serving chief govt of a oneworld member airline.
Underneath his management, Qatar Airways has grown into one of many world’s most highly-awarded airways with an in depth world community, with plans to serve over 140 locations by finish of July.
Qatar Airways turned a member of oneworld in October 2013.
